This is a baby quilt (crib size) I made for my nephew. I made this in April of 2010 for their baby shower and it is the first quilt that I attempted entirely on my own. This is a pattern I found in a magazine that I fell in love with. It is based off a drawing a little girl did of her trip to the playground, and her grandmother interpreted it into fabric. The original quilt was done in black, white and red colors, but I switched to more traditional primary colors. I loved doing this quilt. I even put a fish on the flag for his parents who love to go fishing. I like how the ric rac sets off the actual picture and I added the black border to separate it even more from the outer border. I think what appealed to me the most is I remember doing drawings like this a child myself, and it was a lot of fun to make it for my nephew. I quilted this myself, and I did a different type of quilting between the ric rac and the black border to set the center picture off even more.
